I recently had the privilege of being commissioned by VOL2 to document the architectural redesign of the “Robots” exhibition at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum. This project stood out for its groundbreaking approach, using accessible industrial materials to create an engaging and innovative exhibition space.
The primary materials chosen for the project included corrugated metal sheets, perforated metal panels, structural steel profiles, and translucent fiberglass sheets. Each was carefully selected for its ability to enhance the exhibition’s character while contributing to its functional and visual impact.
The corrugated metal sheets introduced rhythm and texture, creating a dynamic atmosphere within the space. Perforated panels were used to generate intriguing graphic patterns, adding depth and visual intrigue to the exhibition.
Fiberglass sheets played a particularly creative role, with their transparency ingeniously harnessed to produce striking lighting effects. The interplay of light and shadow added layers of sophistication, drawing attention to the exhibited pieces and transforming the space into an immersive experience.
This project was a unique opportunity to capture the intersection of industrial design and architecture in a museum context. The result is a visual narrative that celebrates the creativity and innovation of the redesign, highlighting the elegance and functionality of industrial materials in a cultural setting.
