Located along the Adriatic coastline, the Meliá Durres Hotel is a large-scale seaside resort conceived as a contemporary hospitality destination where architecture, landscape and interior design operate at an urban scale. The complex unfolds horizontally along the shore, establishing a strong visual and spatial relationship with the sea and the surrounding landscape.
The architectural language is defined by rhythmic façades, generous terraces and a clear organisation of volumes designed to mediate between the built environment and the open horizon. Outdoor spaces play a central role in the project, with expansive terraces and one of the resort’s most distinctive elements: an extensive pool system that functions as both a social and spatial core. The pools visually connect different areas of the hotel, reinforcing the idea of continuity between architecture, water and landscape.
Interior spaces complement this large-scale approach with a more controlled and atmospheric design. Particular attention is given to the spa and wellness areas, designed by renowned Italian architect Simone Micheli, whose expressive and sensorial approach introduces a strong identity within the resort. Through the use of light, materials and fluid spatial sequences, the spa becomes an immersive environment—an architectural destination within the hotel itself.
Guest rooms, lounges and restaurants are conceived as calm, refined spaces that balance comfort with visual openness, allowing natural light and views to shape the experience of staying by the sea. The overall project combines functionality, leisure and architectural clarity, responding to the demands of a contemporary resort while maintaining a strong sense of place.
This photographic series focuses on conveying the scale, structure and atmosphere of the Meliá Durres Hotel. Rather than isolating details, the images document how architecture, interiors and landscape work together to form a cohesive hospitality experience—from expansive exterior views to intimate wellness and interior spaces. The visual narrative aims to reflect the ambition and complexity of the project, presenting the hotel as a contemporary coastal resort defined by balance, continuity and spatial depth.
